Abstract

 The main purpose of the study was to assess business education 21st century instructional
delivery for alleviation of nation’s economic downturn. Three specific purposes and
three research questions guided the study. Two null hypotheses were formulated and
tested at the probability of 0.05 level of significance. The study was conducted in Enugu
state using survey research design. The population for the study was 200, comprising
170 final year students of business education and 30 business education lecturers. No
sampling was made since the population was manageable. A structured questionnaire
developed by the researchers was used to collect data for the study. The questionnaire
was face validated by three lecturers from the Department of Business Education,
University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The Cronbach alpha reliability was used to test for the
internal consistency with a coefficient of 0.85. Mean and standard deviation were used
to answer the research questions, while t-test statistics was used to test the hypothesis.
The results revealed that 21stcentury ICT instructional delivery model were available to
an extent, however, the extent of utilization was low. Hypothesis tested revealed that
there was no significant difference in the mean ratings of the responses of respondents
on availability and application of 21stcentury ICT instructional delivery tool for teaching
business education in tertiary institutions. It was recommended that the findings of this
study be made available to students to embrace the use of 21stcentury ICT instructional
tool, foralleviation of nation’s economic downturn and improve the basic knowledge,
skills and attitudes of lecturers and students bymoving enough 21stCT and retraining of
lecturers for the enhancement of teaching and learning in the 21stcentury world.
